Tricky Ways to Add Extra Protein to Your Daily Diet

Protein is the fundamental key to the Keto diet, but it is also the basic structure behind any diet designed to maintain a lean and healthy physique. Suffice it to say, if you can maintain a diet of lots of high-quality protein, you will do yourself a world of good. For instance, high protein diets tend to increase muscle mass and boost metabolism, both of which burn more calories throughout your day. High protein diets help the body repair itself and also reduce your appetite for junk food, both during the day and at night when your cravings skyrocket. You can’t overdose on protein (it will not harm your kidneys), it will help to keep your blood sugar in check, and may even lower your blood pressure.

But you’ve probably heard all this before. It is not really the knowledge of the health advantages of a high protein diet that are missing for most people, but rather the plan and organization to boost their protein in an affordable and maintainable fashion. And for anyone who has ever started this kind of diet on a budget, you probably realize how difficult (and costly, both in money and time) it can be to maintain quality protein ingestion while avoiding those budget carb cravings. But it can be done (we are proof of it) and here are a few ‘packaged’ foods (let’s call them tools) that will help you along the way.

Chef Woo Ramen

20 grams of organic protein in a ‘cup of Ramen’? Yup, and that is a plant-based pea protein in case you are vegan. That is a huge step up from the 7 grams offered by the Maruchan brand (the Walmart staple for most college students). And let us tell you that Chef Woo is way better tasting, with chunks of vegetables and spices that you can see. It is organically sourced, includes no palm oil or MSG, and you won’t even dirty a bowl as it comes in its own microwavable cup. The flavors include Braised Beef, Roasted Chicken, Thai Lemongrass, and Chili Togarashi. This has become a must-have office favorite for us.

Epic Bone Broth

While most liquid proteins are busy trying to be forms of liquid birthday cake, brownies, and anything else that is thick, luscious, and evil, bone broth is just plain delicious in its own natural juices. Bone broth also packs a dose of collagen, which supports digestion, immunity, and gut, skin, and joint health. Oh, and it can help you sleep too.

LonoLife Bone Broth Sticks

An even easier way to get a punch of 10 grams of protein is in a LonoLife portable packet. All you need is a cup, some hot water, and a mouth to pour this all into. And these are really good. We don’t know how they do it, but we crave these as our post-workout treat much more often than designer desert bars and shakes.

RightRice

Rather than rice, most authorities will tell you to choose old-world grain varieties that include quinoa (Minute Rice makes a pretty good multi-grain medley). And while we would not argue with that, our motto is that more is better when it comes to protein and a happy/healthy belly. So why stop at 4 grams when RightRice has a full 10 grams sourced from lentils, chickpeas, and rice? And they have a nice assortment of flavors ranging from Cilantro Lime to Lemon Pepper, and also Spanish.

Orgain Protein Pancake and Waffle Mix

Orgain makes one heck of a good vanilla protein shake with superfoods, but when we’re in the mood for ‘substance’ their pancake mix is more filling and all you need is water (milk is optional, but recommended), oil, and 1 egg to make it happen. Four pancakes dish up about 10 grams of protein and 28 grams of carbs, plus you get their patented group of 50 superfoods.

Just pour, wait til it’s fluff; Man, that’s good stuff!

Nuts N’ More Peanut Butter w/ Added Protein

We already mentioned that when it comes to protein ‘more is better,’ and Nuts ‘N More would agree with that motto scrolled across their jar and about 10grams of protein, pumped up by some whey isolate to prove it. And if you prefer peanut butter with just about anything, you’re going to like their options, which include Birthday Cake, Chocolate Maple Pretzel, Mint Chocolate Chip, Toffee Crunch, Cookies ‘N Cream, Salted Caramel, and Wild Honey.
