15 Summer Activities Every Man Should Do

To be a man is a time-honored tradition, but you’re not exactly your grandfather, now are you?

While the rules of being a gentleman never change, the activities that give a man purpose and pleasure are forever adapting, expanding, and blossoming into new adventures. And this couldn’t be truer than during the summertime.

A man’s earliest memories should involve Dad’s lobster red arms, Megan Fox leaning over the hood of a yellow Camaro, and the promise of making out with your version of Winnie Cooper (Wonder Years). And those memories should evolve into listening to the worthy advice from dad, checking off items on a proper bucket list, and recycling some of those old Summer activities with your own family

All we know is that each year you only have three months to live a lifetime’s worth of summertime fun. And since you never know when it could be your last, we say, why not live this one to the fullest. Here are fifteen suggested activities that just might make this your best summer ever.

Take a short (and a long) road trip

Have friends over for a BBQ

Take a hike (and we mean that in a positive way)

Hit up a baseball game, drink beer, eat a hot dog, and make a mess with your peanuts

Eat watermelon (and get the kind with the seeds, otherwise it’s just not the same)

Take a man nap (a hammock is what will make it a ‘man’ nap)

Grab lunch (or a beer) with an old friend you haven’t seen in years

Leave your phone at home, disappear for an entire day, and come home with a story worth talking about

Lie face up in the grass, and count the clouds until you rediscover the pleasure of simplicity

Take your girl on a picnic (tip: bring watermelon)

Reconnect with the moon and stars on a clear night

Challenge your fitness level with an activity you never thought you could do

Find yourself up a creek with a paddle

Plant something green with your bare hands

Build something out of wood that you will actually use before summer is over
