It is the time of year for improvement and new beginnings, which should always include throwing out your old calendar and getting yourself something more inspirational. We’re talking about something like Abigail Ratchford’s 2016 ICONIC Calendar. Abigail has recreated 13 of the most iconic images from both the past and present and no man will ever be the same after having seen them. And so we asked Abigail what was the inspiration behind the amazing cover (photo above) that appropriately introduces us to this photo journey of leading women.

We had to start with the first ‘iconic’ woman ever, right? She’s the Mother of all living things, who’s seen as a goddess of sorts, and at times, a temptress—I knew this was the perfect ‘cover look’ to launch the concept for this calendar.”

The calendar also features Abigail’s interpretation of Farrah Fawcett and Janet Jackson (sneak peek below).

And we just had to know what was her inspiration behind her recreation of the classic superhero, Wonder Woman?

When I was in grade school, most of the pretty girls were blonde, super skinny and tan from playing outside. I remember crying to my mom to let me dye my hair, and she said, One day you will be happy you have black hair and fair skin. She then showed me a pic of Lynda Carter, and I remember being blown away by her beauty and unique features.”

Over the years, I’ve wanted to dress as Wonder Woman for Halloween and Comic Con, but never got the chance. When I decided to do my ICONIC calendar, I KNEW this was the perfect time to finally recreate the beautiful superhero/icon we all know and love.”

And we’ve saved perhaps one of the most iconic recreations for last. We’re talking about Marilyn Monroe from the film, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953). We disagree with the old adage that a gentleman always prefers a blonde, but we wanted to know is why Abigail prefers Marilyn over all the many other iconic women she could have chosen.

Since I was little, I have loved Marilyn Monroe—her smile, her glamour, her tragic life story. I’m fascinated by her, as is most of the world. She is, in my opinion, the most ‘iconic’ bombshell to have ever lived.”

So we’re making our holiday wishlist simple this year… all we want is a signed copy of Abigail’s 2016 ICONIC Calendar. And you can get your own copy here.
