Scooting through the Southeast on an EcoReco

As a child of the 90’s, I was heavily involved with a Razr scooter gang back in the day.  The EcoReco Electric Scooter takes that same platform and gives it a fresh, eco-friendly update.  The sleek, all black look is also helpful in giving it a more age appropriate appeal to adults.

I first tested EcoReco while in Sea Island, GA.  As far as resorts, gated communities, and other short trips made outside the city are concerned, it’s ideal.  The stylized Segway contemporary weighs in at 34 lbs. and tops out at 20mph.  It’s perfect for leisurely trips where you have the space to use it at the higher end of its speed.

When I gave it a spin back home in Miami, I realized that EcoReco can be restricted by congested areas.  While we have been suffering a ton of foot traffic from WMC and Ultra, it’s best to keep EcoReco away from areas so crowded that you can’t make it around anyone on the sidewalk.

As a Miami Beach local, I can honestly say I’ve never seen a tourist look good on one of those rental Segways on the boardwalk.  Once again, the all black look worked wonders in the way of fitting in, as almost no one looked at me any differently for riding it.

My first charge took me 12 miles, which is a pretty decent range considering the short length I go for things like morning coffee, the drug store, friend’s apartments, etc.  The $1,000 price tag may be a little intimidating at first, but if you think about the opportunity cost (saved time versus walking) and how local your needs are, it may be an advantage to your budgeting.
