5 Minutes With Take Me Out Girl, Monica Alcorano

Monica

The UK television show, Take Me Out, hosted by comedian, Paddy McGuinness, has been connecting single men and women since its season premier in 2010. It is based on the Australian dating show know as, Taken Out.

The way it works is a single bachelor is confronted with the possibility of “taking out” one of 30 available women. It is his task to impress one of these women, so that she will agree to a first date with him. If he fails to impress any of the women, it is called a “Blackout,” and the guy is escorted off the show to the Celine Dion version of the song, “All By Myself.”

Today, we are speaking with one of the current stars, Monica Alcorano, who is also a singer, song writer, and television personality in her own right. She was born in Tottenham, raised in Aylesbury, and we expect some pretty great things to come from this multi-talented beauty. Join us as we find out exactly what makes Alcorano tick in the dating world.

Urbasm: How has your life changed since your premier on television?
image_4Monica Alcorano: It’s changed in a way where I think people take more interest in what you do. It’s crazy that we’ve had young girls ask for our autograph when we’ve only come from a dating show. The support is lovely though, and I’m so grateful for all the kind comments I’ve received.

Urb: What is your best ‘behind the scenes’ story from the show, Take Me Out?
MA: Oh, there’s loads I probably shouldn’t let out–girly stuff! But it was so lovely to chill with a bunch of genuine girls. We all had the same banter and been through similar things, we had such a laugh sharing past situations. There was never a dull moment.

image_12Urb: What does it take for a guy to get your attention?
MA: It’s very hard to grab my attention, especially as I’m always in my own world (laughs). The guy would probably have to clown about to get my attention. I’m attracted to humor and wit more than anything.

Urb: What are three things that every guy should know (about being a gentleman, a better date, etc.)?
image_3MA: It’s very important to me that a guy makes me feel special. I like little things like holding the door open for a girl, pulling the chair out for a girl to sit down. A real gentlemen; but not a complete softy. I love a deep thinker—you know, those conversations that just go on and on and you lose track of time. That’s an amazing date.

Urb: What upcoming projects of yours do we have to look forward to?
MA: I’m currently promoting my EP and have just released my first single which is called “Touch is Gold”. You can find it on soundcloud at www.soundcloud.com/monicaalcoranomusic. The video will be out very soon a long with an album, so keep your eyes peeled. I’m also doing PA’s and gigs which I’m very excited about.

Root for Monica on the current season of Take Me Out, and you can connect with her on Twitter, YouTube, and Soundcloud.
