Town in Missouri Says, “Pull Up Your Damn Pants!”

The small town of Collinsville, Missouri (“The cowbell capital of America”), has had it up to their waistbands with the local teenagers who refuse to pull up their britches. To combat the problem, council members are getting ready to vote on an ordinance which will make it illegal to sport a saggy ass in or around town.

If the ordinance goes into effect, the first offense will include a polite request by an officer, followed by a $100 ticket. If the saggy butt refuses to comply, repeat offenders can be fined up to $300 with the addition of community service (up to 40 hours).

While there are a number of local citizens who have already climbed aboard, the mayor has not, fearing it would pull too much time out of the day of their law enforcement agents. “They should be out fighting crime, and not fighting saggy pants,” said Mayor John Miller.

The official vote is scheduled tomorrow, Monday, July 11th, 2011. All that is needed is three out of the five council members to agree to the idea, and the council member responsible for the proposal, Liz Dalton, says she already has support of two out of the other four.

This isn’t the only town considering (or already) enforcing the position of one’s pants, and it certainly won’t be the last.
