Hair Situation – Two New Formulas, Same Great Results

IMG_0005

You know what I like better than trying out a new brand of hair product? Trying a new formula from a brand I already like. We gave ‘Hair Situation’ a shot last winter and we were very impressed by their ‘no-glue-no-goo’ policy. These gels and pomades are very clean formulas and do exactly what their name suggests they should. This year Hair Situation has released two new formulas, ‘Mr. Slick Molding Pomade’ and ‘Mr. Polished Medium Hold Gel,’ and they asked us to put them to the test and give them our honest opinion – and so we did:

SlickI tend to gravitate towards pomades because they go on smooth and leave a nice hold without any flakes. Mr. Slick offers a bit more of a precise hold for a pomade, as its name suggests, but it still can be used on dry hair to achieve a nice amount of texture, shine and thickness without being too heavy. On wet hair, it is a nice gel-substitute, offering a bit more hold than the average pomade, but with an impressive amount of shine that looks more natural than you’d typically find with a gel. And as you’ll discover with most of their products, this also contains no alcohol and offers a dose of vitamins to help keep your hair healthy.

Mr.-PolishedMr Polished Medium Hold Gel is a thicker formula than most ‘light’ gels yet it goes on just as smooth and washes off just as easily. In fact, I love this thicker formula because it allows more precise delivery where I need it, but it isn’t a ‘thick’ product to work into your hair once it warms itself between your fingers. I see this as being the love-child between Mr. Dapper Matte Gel and their Mr. Active Styling Glue because it offers a bit more shine and hold than the ‘Dapper’ but is noticeably softer than the ‘Glue’. What you get is a natural-looking hold with just a touch of shine that will last all day and won’t alert you (or others) of its presence.

Once again, Hair Situation has developed a couple hair styling aids worthy of their names. And if you think they might be worthy of your own ‘mane,’ we invite you to check them out here.
