Louis Moinet Makes Time Capsule of 1862 Whiskey and Plants it in a $45,000 Watch

Luxury is often seen, it is occasionally heard, and on rare occasions, it is forged within the mind. Louis Moinet has crafted a watch that is worthy of their “Metropolis” line and made it even more luxurious with the addition of a drop of Old Vatted Glenlivet 1862, one of the oldest and most saught after whiskeys in existence. The drop has been secured within a clear vial (time capsule, if you will) that has been placed at the 3 o’clock position of the watch (although we think 5’oclock would have been more appropriate, but that’s just us).

The story behind this edition begins with the company, Wealth Solutions. They recently got their hands on a bottle of Old Vatted Glenlivet 1862. They brainstormed some ideas of what to do with it, and settled on contacting a watch company to create a one of a kind edition that offered two out of the three essentials for every gentleman’s survival – whiskey and fine watches.

The watch mechanics of this piece feature an LM45 automatic movement, 22 jewels, and has been limited to just 50 watches (50 drops of whiskey). It will cost $45,000 for the 18-karat gold version (above) and $14,500 for the stainless steel. This idea opens a vast array of new possibilities for liquid-filled vials impregnated into timepieces – some possibilities of which we dare not think about.
