The weather reports are suggesting this coming winter could be a particularly cold and brutal one for those in the South and East Coast. But you know what really takes the brunt of a bad winter day? Every surface of your body that is left out to fend for itself during your daily jaunt to and from work. We’re talking about the hair on your head, face and, of course, all that delicate skin underneath.

To help protect your money-maker this winter we asked American Crew’s Shave Director, Patti Davenport, to give us a few tips on how to hydrate without involving a whole lot of time and money. And this is what she had to say:

You need American Crew Daily MoisturizingShampoo, Daily Conditioner, and Post-Shave Cooling Lotion to help alleviate, treat and maintain a healthy scalp and skin year round…”

And after that came a blizzard of amazing tips and tricks. But to keep all this great advice in a simple and easy-to-follow format, we devised a ‘CliffsNotes’ version that goes a little something like this:

Tip #1- Kick Your Morning Off with a Moisturizing Shampoo

“The AC Daily Moisturizing Shampoo contains botanical ingredients that are suitable for all skin and scalp types to nourish, calm and prevent the skin from over drying,” explains Patti. “Additionally, this product is a great cleanser for the face/beard as well as the scalp and hair, as it helps to cleanse dead skin cells, debris, oil and environmental pollution from the surface of the skin and beard without over drying.”

Tip #2- Follow Up with a Good Conditioner

Many men used to think that hair conditioner was something that only girls needed, but we were wrong and here’s why. “A great pairing to finish off your shower regimen is to follow-up with the AM Daily Conditioner, an invigorating conditioner that has menthol and soothing ingredients to balance and hydrate your hair and beard.” Yes, this stuff works on your beard too (hair is hair) – so there’s no need to buy a lot of extra products.

Tip #3 – Moisturize [Everything]

“Once you jump out of the shower, apply AC Post-Shave Cooling Lotion to the face, beard and any skin that is regularly exposed to the elements, including your nape, ears, etc.” advises Patti. “The ingredients of this lightweight moisturizer help to nourish, prevent and treat any minor skin inflammations, as well as maintain the correct PH on the surface of the skin.”

barbering_2Sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it? That’s because it is. Don’t let old man winter use your face as a sanding backsplash for his salt-crusted snow fireballs – wear protection. And you can get these [and other] fine American Crew products online here, or visit your favorite barber or hair stylist and tell them that American Crew and your friends at Urbasm sent you. Not that it will get you any special treatment or discounts, but it might make them think that you have a few more friends than they originally thought. You’re welcome.
